KUYT RETIRES AFTER DUTCH LEAGUE TRIUMPH

Former Dutch international Dirk Kuyt announced his retirement on Wednesday, three days after his hat-trick steered Feyenoord to their first Eredivisie title in 18 years.

Kuyt impressed all season at the age of 36 to lead Feyenoord to the Eridivise title. The former Liverpool player scored all three goals on Sunday as Feyenord beat Heracles 3-1 to pip Ajax to the dutch title by just a point.

He is expected to stay on at Feyenoord in a technical capacity after calling time on his 19-year playing career.

Kuyt made his professional debut at FC Utrecht in 1998, before stints at Feyenoord, Liverpool and Fenerbahce.
