Week Two Results and Opinions (Team of the Week)

Crown FC 1 (Ekigbo Ehiosun 30) Warri Wolves 1 (Harrison Egbune 75)
Didn't give Crown a chance against big spending Warri Wolves but Crown were able to hold their own. Good result for both teams.

Juth 1 (James Amankwei 47) Gombe Utd 1 (Lazarus Chukwu 61)
JUTH showed they are not going to be easy push-overs for the more established teams. Gave Gombe United loads of problems in the course of the game but both teams had to settle for a draw in the end. Fair result for both teams.

Kwara Utd 1 (Barnabas Imenger 41) Kaduna Utd 1 (Emma Bivan 59)
Kwara utd still not that same team that challenged for the title last season, yet to find their rhythm and most times look lethargic. Kaduna Utd on the other hand, with a few new legs are definitely not a title winning team yet but they definitely are not a team to wish away. Kaduna Utd did enough to keep their unbeaten run.

Kano Pillars 1 (Mannir Ubale 57) Bukola Babes 0
Definitely, Kano Pillars are one of the teams tipped to win the title. Their performance in the league in the last two seasons and their continental experience will definitely be a big plus for them. Bukola babes were no match for the Northerners. The result was expected.

Dolphin 1 (Omoh Ojabu 82) Rangers 0
The biggest match of the weekend. It was a tough match from the start but Goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi of Dolphins was the difference between both teams. He made dare-devil saves that ensured Rangers did not get a goal. This definitely was match of the weekend.

Heartland 2 (Okey Nwadike 11, Osas Okoro 52) Tornadoes 1 (Chibuzor Osigwe 70)
Expected result, Heartland dominated the game and deservedly won it.

Lobi Stars 1 (Victor Barnabas 10) Sharks 1 (Gomo Onduku 67)
Nothing much to say about this. I expected it to be a drab match and it was just a little better than what i expected. Fair result in the end.

Ocean Boys 1 (Ndubuisi Nkoro 30) Plateau Utd 1 (Waziri Kabiru 66)
There was nothing to separate both teams and in the end, it was an expected draw

Zamfara Utd 2 (Oba Dada 20, Festus Iyonu 90(OG) 3SC 2 (Kabiru Alausa 56, Chima Akass 74)
Not a fair result here. Shooting Stars did everything right and were almost taking all three points before the own goal scored by Festus Iyonu in added time. Shooting Stars deserved all three points in this game. Coach Fatai Amoo is definitely on a mission with this team.

Sunshine Stars 2 (Cletus Itodo 30, Onyi Chiemeka 63) Enyimba 1 (Ifeanyi Ede 41]
Very good result for Sunshine Stars despite the fact that they played this "home" game away from home. Definitely the most exciting game of the weekend.

TEAM OF THE WEEK
Sunshine Stars' spirited 2-1 defeat of champions Enyimba has catapulted three of their players into the NPL's Team of the Week.

Left back Daniel Mende, centre back Onyi Chiemeke and midfielder Cletus Itodo all played their way into the weekly honors list.

Heartland and Ocean Boys followed with two players each.

But the star of the show is JUTH's Ghanaian striker James Amankwei, who scored for the second week running, following his strike against Sharks in Week 1 with another in his side's 1-1 draw against Gombe United.

Two players who missed out narrowly in the Week 1 list, forced their way into the second week's selection. Ocean Boys goalkeeper Olufemi Thomas and Kano Pillars defender Wasiu Sowemimo both made up ground after missing out last week.

Once again, the team will be coached by Dolphins coach Stanley Eguma, whose team maintained their perfect start to the season

The surprising exclusion for me is Enyimba's ifeanyi Ede who had a great game against Sunshine Stars.
